La More and extra paint....

First off, I have some bad news.  I can no longer work on the house.  My knees and shoulders will not let me do it anymore.  I am in constant pain and have to take too many pain meds.  There were only 2 rooms left when we made this decision, so I feel like a quitter, but not too bad.  Jeff will finish up the last 2 rooms on the inside before he has to do the outside stuff later.
So Jeff went over again today to work on our room.  We had leftover paint from Tom's room(the tan).  We also had :-) leftover paint from our Bolingbrook house bedroom ceiling....don't like to waste good paint!

The tan only covered 3 walls so we had to get another gallon.  It is called La More.  Looks like beige to me.

Here is another pic.

He also got a pic of the finished door in the family room.

Lookin' great!  Now on to the last bedroom.  The paneled walls are coming down and drywall is going up in there.   Here is the before pic.
The door has already been replaced.  The walls have that textured wallpaper on it right now.  That's all I've got for now, till next time.

Tom's room

We have finished painting Tom's room.  I wanted him to see the pics and he said he really didn't care since he won't live there very long, if at all....:-((((((  He starts IIT on August 23 and will be on vaca the last week of July so he is right.  But I will still be sad...  Anyway here are those pics.

I like the color combo.  It is still wet in these pics, so will dry just a bit different.  We can now start the prep work for our room.  I hate that part.  The painting I can handle, the prep work stinks!
Only 2 rooms to go.  Thank God!

A couple spare pics too...His new shirt and the shadow box I made him.  Have 1 more chevron to add that he got last week and then it is done.
Till next time...<3

5 Coats.

That is what it took for this wall.  The Mink looks wonderful!!!
Jeff put the baseboards back on and the trim on the side door.  It is really looking good!  Can't wait to get this room all set up.  Bar, dart board, Foosball table, all our sports memorabilia.
I forgot to put a pic up of his finished floor fix.  Here it is.
I'll tell ya, he can fix anything.  I am so lucky.
Here are some random pics too.
We were in Nashville Saturday for the Tennessee All State performance.  They were awesome!  We are so proud.  Didn't know he could sing, like his sister, before this year.  He ends up getting a solo.  Good job buddy!  We heart you.

Paint.

So the eggplant did not go well...

So we are going to have to put more paint on this wall.  Went to Ace today and got a color called "Mink".
It is a very dark brown.

I will do that Sunday.  Hopefully this will do it.  It is a good quality paint.  I also found a blue for the master bedroom.  Maybe use it for the kitchen island and my china cabinet and hutch also...we'll see.

We have moved into Tom's room for the time being.  Had to tear the paper off the walls to make room for all the people in the hall.....lol
We also sanded and spackled in here.
This will be the main color of the room.  May add an accent color on one wall.

Jeff comes up with the most unusual contraptions sometimes.  Here is one of them.

They always work.  He likes duct tape.  :-)

The flowers are starting to bloom.  I have these beautiful iris in the back.  In the fall I will move some to the front, it is bare.

That's it for now!

Still painting.

Finally got to the paint stage for the family room.  We thought we had brown for the accent wall but......turns out when we opened up the can it was a deep eggplant which will work for the room.  We wanted dark and that is what it is.  Most of this wall will be covered anyway.  It is terrible quality paint.  Even though it is still wet, this is after 3 coats...still needs one more.  The other walls turned out nice as you can see.

So the moral of this story is....don't judge a book by its cover. :-D

Family Room goes on...

After the floors we decided to move into the family room.  The walls are almost ready for primer.  Jeff had to do some repair work to the door frame and subfloor in there.  There was some mold from where water was getting in.  He took it all apart and fixed it today.

After he got everything out, he cleaned it with bleach.  It worked very well.

After it dried, he put a new jamb piece back in place, he also put the front piece back in too.  He had to cut a groove in that piece for the weatherstripping and he did that with the circular saw.
He primed the outside so it will not rot and he caulked out there too.

Now all he has to do is cut the piece for the subfloor and wall and patch those in.  He worked very hard on this all day and he got it done!  Great job honey.  :-D

I brought the curtain panels with me to hang in the living room.  They were just sitting in the closet here so why not?  I just need a valance to put over the top.  Will probably make that with the sewing machine.

We will go back tomorrow and get started on the ceiling and crown moulding after Jeff finishes the floor and wall.  I need to sand the room again.  These walls are not paneling, so we want to make them look new.  Smooth as a baby's bum...
Happy Easter to everyone!
