Let there be light.

Jeff put the kitchen light up yesterday, we have been eating in the dark....j/k.
The wiring was wrong up in the ceiling, so he had to fix that.  After figuring out with his meter which wire was supposed to be connected to the other (it was not wired right previously-the switch did not work with that light) so the switch would turn the light on, it now works!!!

I love this light!!  It goes perfect with the decor I have picked for this room.
Next on the agenda is the light for the Master Bdrm.....

Until the next post...

Micro up.

Got the microwave up this weekend.  We had to take down the existing cabinet, which was 18" h and replace with a 15" h because the microwave would have sit too low over the stove.  This is what it looked like before we started on the kitchen.  Jeff took out the range hood and the cabinet...

We thought it vented up to the roof....no hole here.  It was venting up to the space above the cabinets....wow.

Jeff put the new cabinet up and ran the electric through there.

Now we had to get the mounting holes in....with the templates they provided.  That was a joke.  It did not take into account our style of cabinet.  Jeff figured it out :-D .  He always does.
Now to put the mounting bracket up.
Check.   Then he drilled the holes in the cabinet to put the top bolts in.  Then it could go up.
Voila!
Mission REALLY accomplished....
It took about 7 hours to do it.

So here is before:
and after....
Total transformation.

Appliances!!!

I know I am late in getting these up....

Still have lots of small stuff to do in here.  I can devote more of my time to get er done!!!

We are not really done.....

Here is the cabinet we got to put over the microwave.  The existing cabinet is too low, therefore the microwave will be too close to the stove.
Just need to stain and then Jeff can put it, and the microwave, in.
Will post more as we finish up the inside.

Done. Inside that is....

The last room is done!  We can start moving in anytime.  It took 6 months to complete.  Jeff stayed at the house for a week to get it done.  Here are some pics.

Beautiful!!!!  Jeff did an awesome job on installing the carpet and floors.  Seems like he can do anything!!!!

The Borgs went down to Georgia....

They were looking for some carpet to deal.  They weren't in a bind b/c they weren't behind but they needed to make a deal.

Look, another J.B. Hunt truck Nan.... :-(  We were behind that thing the whole way because we could only go 60 or so with the trailer.

Friday we went to Dalton, GA to check some carpet prices and get the padding.  Boy did we!  Today we went back to pick up our carpet because we had to rent a trailer.

We got great deals.  The Berber was $5/sq. yd. and the patterned Berber was $6/sq. yd.   We also decided, ok I decided, that we wanted laminate in the master bdrm.  We got it for 99 cents/ sq. ft. The padding we upgraded in the family room but the bedrooms we just went with the Berber padding.
Here it is:

We cut it outside and then took it in.

Darn spots on the lens....
The piece above goes in the Family room.  The Berber below will go in Tom's and our room.

This is the laminate we found.  12mm!!!

Next step is to get the padding down then lay the carpets.  We will save the laminate for last I think....
Ta Ta for now!
